INDIANAPOLIS – It’s been said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Whoever thought up that must have never watched Raw. There are a galaxy of Superstars who have never nurtured a good intention in their lives, and with just one week until they find themselves in “Hell,” they aren’t about to start now.

The Nexus’ Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater def. Evan Bourne & Mark Henry; Nexus threatened to invade SmackDown

The power and quickness of Mark Henry & Evan Bourne may seem like thunder and lightning, but leave it to The Nexus to rain on their parade. Nexus’ members Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel teamed together to take down the duo in a tag team encounter.

Afterward, the other members of Nexus came forth to make an ominous announcement. Just two days before Hell in a Cell takes place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, the band of outlaws promised to invade the premiere of Friday Night SmackDown on its new home – Syfy.

Upon hearing the plans of his Hell in a Cell opponent, Wade Barrett, John Cena vowed to show up at the SmackDown Syfy premiere as well, adding that, if he runs into the group, “Hell in a Cell will start early.”

Watch the Nexus take over WWE Smackdown on its premiere this Friday night at 8pm EST (7 pm CST) on SyFy!

The November issue of WWE Magazine‘s “Jerk of the Month” section targets Wade Barrett for its monthly “interrogation” of WWE Superstars charged with not-so-savory acts in and around the ring. Barrett had plenty to say in his defense, however. Some excerpts from the section -

On the Nexus’s unprovoked attacks: “We’ve used our assets to convince whoever might’ve been in charge at the time to give us our contracts.”

On changing the perception of stand-alone competition: “It’s about recognizing an opportunity and then exploiting it.”

On the Nexus’s initial attack on Raw and wrecking the set: “I love nothing more than destroying things.”

The complete conversation between Wade Barrett and WWE Magazine is found in the November 2010 issue!

INDIANAPOLIS – Twenty-four hours earlier, at Night of Champions, several WWE Superstars were in heaven when they earned new championships. During Raw, however, WWE Champion Randy Orton, Sheamus, John Cena and Wade Barrett realized they’ll be feeling the heat when they compete at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

John Cena def. The Nexus in a Gauntlet Match by Disqualification; John Cena and Wade Barrett agreed to a match at Hell in a Cell
John Cena was really looking forward to punishing his longtime tormentor, Wade Barrett. Instead, the Englishman arranged a Gauntlet Match featuring the members of The Nexus against Cena. With little choice, Cena agreed and methodically proceeded to muscle his way through Heath Slater, David Otunga and Michael Tarver. Before he could polish off Justin Gabriel, though, Nexus charged the ring, pummeling Cena and allowing him to win by disqualification.

After the bout, Cena rampaged against the band of outlaws, sending them scurrying up the entrance ramp. After The Nexus’ retreat, Cena proposed a challenge of his own to the group’s leader: The two of them one-on-one when Hell in a Cell takes place inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Before consenting, though, Barrett proposed that were he to win, Cena must join The Nexus. Cena agreed, but only on one condition: If he were to win, The Nexus must disband. The Englishman reluctantly agreed as the two men narrowed their eyes on one another, eager to end their hostilities once and for all within the confines of the Devil’s Playground.

Results from the main event Six Pack Elimination Challenge featuring Wade Barrett at WWE Night of Champions, September 19, 2010

CHICAGO – Like a snake lingering in high grass, Randy Orton waited, biding his time, until, finally, the moment arrived. He plunged his ever-dangerous fangs deep into the hearts of his opponents and, once again, coiled himself around the WWE Championship.

In the Six Pack Elimination Challenge at Night of Champions, The Viper used those fangs to slither past five of WWE’s most impressive Superstars – Sheamus, John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett – en route to the coveted WWE Championship.

Orton’s path to the title was hardly without obstacle. According to the rules of the Six Pack Elimination Challenge, a sextet of Superstars swarm the ring, with eliminations decided via pinfall or submission. The winner remains the last competitor standing.

During the contest, Chris Jericho was quickly eliminated by Orton with Edge following him out a while later thanks to an Attitude Adjustment from Cena. With the elimination of two Superstars, only Sheamus, Cena, Barrett and Orton remained.

Since the contest stipulations include no disqualifications, The Nexus, not surprisingly, took full advantage. With their leader struggling to oust fellow competitors, the armbanded cavalry – Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, Heath Slater and Michael Tarver – disrupted the proceedings, attacking the oft-targeted Cena. Although the shifty foursome proved successful in removing Cena, their English overlord also fell victim to an RKO from Orton and was eliminated.

And then there were two. WWE’s Apex Predator and The Celtic Warrior have a sordid history with one another. Last month at SummerSlam, Sheamus retained his title over Orton, but only after losing via disqualification. In the Six Pack Elimination Challenge, however, there would be no stipulation in which to seek sanctuary. Instead, The Viper would leverage the momentum and intimidation he has amassed the past several weeks. With in his eyes narrowed and cunning, Orton struck, devastating Sheamus with a victory clinching RKO.

And with that, The Viper coiled around the WWE Championship for the sixth time in his career, solidifying his legacy in the same arena where he had secured his very first WWE Title, and ensuring that a host of Superstars will be just itching to skin him.
