Wade Barrett vs. John Cena – Steel Cage Match

Their main event match was back and forth and consisted mostly of Wade Barrett attempting to escape and Cena stopping him. Around the 20 minute mark, Barrett got Cena in the Wasteland and dropped Cena on the mat. After a brief moment where the match stopped, Barrett attempted a punch which was countered by Cena and turned into a submission move where Barrett tapped out.

(NOTE: John Cena was reported to be injured after the Wasteland, yet the match was finished and Cena left limping but without assistance.)

(Although Wade Barrett did not appear on this episode of Monday Night Raw, the developments of the Nexus were still a part of tonight’s show.)

C.M. Punk Joins the Nexus; is the Nexus under new leadership?

Albany, NY – After his attacks on John Cena in the previous week on both Raw and Smackdown, C.M. Punk was called out on this week’s Raw by Cena to explain his actions. Punk told Cena that he was tired of his hypocrisy and false words and would have a “surprise” later in the evening for Cena.

The surprise came in the form of an appearance by the Nexus (without Wade Barrett) at the end of Raw when Cena expected Punk to appear. David Otunga spoke for the group, stating that they were “under new management” and offered a truce to Cena. Cena disagreed and dismissed the group, who left the ring but then promptly doubled back to attack Cena. After each member of the Nexus brutalized Cena, CM Punk appeared and hit the GTS on Cena, who lay helpless in the ring. Punk then took a steel chair from ringside and, after a halted attempt to attack Cena with it, proceeded to have a seat on it and picked up a Nexus armband beside the chair. After having a look at Cena lying in the middle of the ring, Punk put on the armband and hailed his fellow Nexus members, who stood on the ramp and saluted back.

Wade Barrett featured in January 2011 WWE Magazine

The “Cash for Questions” section of the latest WWE Magazine has Wade Barrett answering selected questions from the WWE Universe in an interview format. Highlights of the section include -

When asked what it’s like to be the most hated man in WWE: “I feel an enormous sense of achievement. It’s a testament to the fact that I’ve achieved a lot in such a short span of time. People don’t like to see their heroes, like John Cena and Undertaker, beaten up. I think a new person making an impact against the top stars in the industry speaks to my abilities and accomplishments.”

When asked on pointers for belittiling people: “…I think the key to delivering a good insult is to stretch out the word for as long as you can. Make sure that the object of your rage feels every single syllable. That way it really sinks in. My favorite insult is to call someone a ‘waste of skin.’ That’s my new one – I’m gonna get that aired on TV very soon.”

When asked about the question he’s sick of being asked: “I’m sick of being asked if my accent is real. A lot of people, especially Americans, seem to think that I’m an American putting on an English accent, which is, quite frankly, ridiculous. To think that I would go to the extend of putting on an accent or changing the way I talk just to impress people, to entertain people! As I said from the beginning, I’m not here to entertain anyone. I’m here for myself.”
