Raleigh, NC – Wade Barrett fought valiantly for the SmackDown brand on the evening of the WWE Draft in both a Batlle Royal to begin Raw and then later in a “Raw vs. SmackDown” match against new Raw roster member Rey Mysterio.

Raw’s newest recruit, Rey Mysterio, has already started paying dividends. The Master of the 619 squared off against Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett with an opportunity to earn their respective brands two draft choices. Although Barrett certainly proved he’s a resolute champion, the masked man took him out at the knees, earning the red brand two draftees: Big Show and Alberto Del Rio.

London, England – A growing tension in the Corre turned into a disaster after Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater lost the Tag Team Championship to Kane and the Big Show in London. However, it was Wade Barrett who saved the evening from total ruin by successfully defending his Intercontinental Championship against Kofi Kingston later on the show after unsuccessful interference on the part of Ezekiel Jackson.

When Ezekiel Jackson leveled Wade Barrett – presumable trying to attack his fellow Corre member’s challenger Kofi Kingston – the English Superstar told him to leave ringside. Then, in the heat of battle, Barrett blasted his high-octane opponent with a brutal kick. When Kofi tried to counter the champion’s follow-up assault, Barrett used his presence of mind – and the nearby ring ropes – to trap Kingston, grabbing the three-count to successfully defend his Intercontinental Title.

ALBANY, New York – Four days after World Heavyweight Champion Edge announced his shocking retirement from WWE, The Rated-R Superstar officially surrendered the World Heavyweight Championship. This resulted in a new opportunity for the SmackDown roster to participate in a No. 1 Contender’s World Heavyweight Championship Battle Royale – the winner to fight Alberto Del Rio at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view for the championship.

While Ezekiel Jackson competed in an intense match with Kofi Kingston, his fellow Corre members sat in with the SmackDown announce team, displaying obvious friction with each other. When “The Personification of Domination” hurled his high-flying opponent directly on top of his faction brethren, Wade Barrett rushed toward the ring in an absolute rage. This distraction allowed Jackson to hurl Kofi to the canvas and pick up the huge win. Jackson then proclaimed to his fellow Corre members that they would later see in the Battle Royale why he why he is “The Personification of Domination”.

The intense Battle Royal also saw WWE Tag Team Champion Justin Gabriel eliminate fellow Corre member Wade Barrett – just moments after they worked together to get rid of the monstrous Kane. Although he started strong by eliminating three Superstars, Big Show’s momentum sent both him and Ezekiel Jackson over the ropes and out of contention. And Rey Mysterio eliminated his bitter adversary Cody Rhodes, shortly before Michael Cole sacrificed his body to The Ultimate Underdog’s 619 in order to save his Extreme Rules tag team partner Jack Swagger from taking the hit.
