NEW YORK CITY – If there was any doubt if Wade Barrett could make a resurgence in WWE, he removed all of it inside a sold-out Madison Square Garden by leading his team to an emotional victory over Team Orton in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match.

Team Barrett def. Team Orton (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)

Team Barrett went into the battle with Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Hunico and United States Champion Dolph Ziggler. Team Orton brought Sheamus, Mason Ryan, WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston and Sin Cara to the fight.

The action started with Kingston and Ziggler going toe-to-toe. When Orton was tagged in, The Viper struck instantly, quickly eliminating the United States Champion with an RKO.

But Team Orton then lost a member of its own when Sin Cara was left unable to compete after suffering a ruptured patella tendon while leaping from the ring to the arena floor.

When the action resumed following Sin Cara’s injury, Rhodes eliminated Ryan with Cross Rhodes, giving Team Barrett a 4-3 advantage over Team Orton. Next, Barrett took out Kingston with Wasteland, increasing the lead to 4-2.

With emotions running high, Sheamus was disqualified for repeatedly kneeing Swagger in the head and refusing to heed the ref’s call to stop. After being disqualified, Sheamus blasted Swagger again for good measure – leaving the door open for Orton to eliminate Swagger, making it 3-1.

Despite the odds against him, a fired up Viper stood his ground and did not back down from his foes. Backed into a corner, The Viper showed his fangs, eliminating Hunico with a mid-air RKO.

But the odds were too much to overcome, even for WWE’s Apex Predator. After hitting Rhodes with an RKO, Barrett swooped in and hit Wasteland to continue the “Barrett Barrage,” leaving Barrett and Rhodes as the remaining survivors.

With the historic win, Barrett’s name will now be mentioned among some of WWE’s greats who also made history at Survivor Series. In 1990, Undertaker made his dark presence known. And in 1996, The Rock debuted in MSG, where he was the sole Survivor for his team.

NOTE: “Team Barrett” trended worldwide on Twitter on two occasions – once during the match and a second time after the team’s victory!

SLAM! Wrestling Article: “Barrett leading the charge into Survivor Series”
Posted On: Nov 18, 2011 | By: Tiffany | Comment

Greg Oliver, producer of the online sports entertainment publication SLAM! Wrestling, penned an article on Survivor Series 2011 team captain Wade Barrett and his position as head of one half of this year’s traditional Survivor Series tag team match.

Wade Barrett thought he was through with teams, having led the Nexus in an uprising against the established WWE stars, and later helming The Corre on Smackdown. He’d sworn that the WWE faced a “Barrett Barrage” and his goal was singles glory.

Yet here he is, leading Team Barrett (Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Hunico & Dolph Ziggler) in an elimination match against Team Orton (Randy Orton, Sheamus, Mason Ryan, Kofi Kingston & Sin Cara) at Sunday’s Survivor Series in the newly-renovated Madison Square Garden in New York City.

“I was kind of done with teams for the time being, but Survivor Series is really a special occasion,” Barrett told SLAM! Wrestling on Thursday. “One of my career goals was to be a part of one of the traditional Survivor Series teams, so when this opportunity came up, I certainly wanted to take them up on it.

“When I was a kid, I was always a big fan of the five-on-five matches, or four-on-four, as they were for a while. It’s a big deal for me to be a part of it, and obviously to be the captain, with my experience and talents, I was the natural choice for the position.”

Is he just a natural leader? “I don’t know if I’m good at being the boss or if I’m just very bad at being someone else’s employee, or someone else’s junior. I’m very happy to be the top guy on the team anyway.”

Wade goes on to speak about his match one year ago against Randy Orton at Survivor Series 2010 as well as his thoughts on the WWE’s most recent tour of Europe. Continue reading the full article after the links.

Bridgeport, CT – Only nights away from the WWE’s annual pay-per-view tradition Survivor Series, team captain Wade Barrett and Survivor Series teammate Cody Rhodes would meet up in the ring with Sheamus and Randy Orton, two of their rival Survivor Series team members.

Randy Orton & Sheamus def. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes & Wade Barrett by Disqualification

An injured Christian lurked at ringside as four of the key Superstars involved in this Sunday’s 5-on-5 Traditional Tag Team Match went head-to-head. Though not able to compete, the crafty Superstar still influenced the outcome of the match, delivering a painful crutch blow to Sheamus, ending the match in disqualification.

When Survivor Series Team Captain Barrett & Rhodes attempted to use the crutch after the match, The Celtic Warrior turned the tide, blasting Rhodes with the Brogue Kick. Sheamus then broke the weapon over Barrett’s back, setting up Team Captain Orton to blast The English Superstar with the RKO. The Great White then followed suit, hitting the Celtic Cross on the Intercontinental Champion to give Team Orton the win.

More Photos from SmackDown Tour of Poland & Germany

Recently when Wade Barrett toured Frankfurt, Germany with the SmackDown crew, forum member & true Barrett fan Danny was fortunate enough to meet Wade again as well as bestow gifts upon him! She tells her story in the forum (you can also check out her videos as well)-

“Last Saturday, the SmackDown World Tour had their last Stop in Frankfurt/Main – only about 1 hour away from my small hometown
But me and my friends (most from far away) stood overnight in WWE’s Hotel!

My friend Robbie and I checked in around 12 (no WWE there) then we went to Natalya’s and Wade’s Signing. A Security told, that the arrived (Airport) around 13:30 – whoa, very late, the signing started with a delay (typical!). We were among the first 50 fans in that “Toys R us” Shop when Nattie and Wade arrived.

Well, before this Event I packed some gifts for Wade: – a bottle of english beer (“Hobgoblin”); – Sweets – english Winegums and Werther’s Original then a Football Scarf (“Eintracht Frankfurt”) and at last a small (pocket)clock = a mini Guitar in red and white!

He said: “Thanks that’s very kind of you” and “I remember you” as he signed our Pic from April this year we took a photo then we left, oh my God…

At the Show, he lost against Sheamus BUT as he entered, he saw me with my GB Flag, took it from me and in the Ring! He kissed the Flag before he gave back to me
I’ll post Videos grabbing my Flag + 6 minutes of the match on youtube for all of us – I promise!!!
And you can hear, that there were a lot of Wade Barrett Fans

Back in the Hotel after the Show we grabbed him for photos and I asked him “How was the beer?”. With a grin he answered “I took it after the match… “Hobgoblin”, english beer.”
As you can see, the beer didn’t survive the whole show – he had his match before the break
Then he went to his room and didn’t come back that night – I can understand, they had a intensive match and both Wade and Sheamus must be tired.W

WWE left early Sunday morning. Wade made two Pictures and left to the Bus… “I have to run, sorry” he said the he was gone. It’s the only sad point because I would like to know if he likes the clock and the football scarf – I don’t have Twitter… and at a Signing you don’t have the time for Smalltalk.

But for 99% it was a really perfect and exiting Day – I mean he was happy about my goodies esp. the beer I think I have 2 new photos + he recognized me with the big GB Flag and carried to the ring :)

Also, thanks to our friend Ewelina for letting us know about more photos from SmackDown in Gdansk, Poland thanks to pl.wwe.sevenload.com!

Boston, Massachusetts – The Barrett Barrage powered its way into Boston tonight along with the rest of Wade Barrett‘s Survivor Series team to take on Randy Orton, who also brought along his Survivor Series team in tow.

Randy Orton def. Wade Barrett by Disqualification

Coming off a huge victory over Randy Orton on SmackDown, Wade Barrett locked up with The Viper again tonight, but a clear winner could not be decided. Six days before they captain opposing teams at Survivor Series, The Viper and the British competitor saw their bout turn into bedlam as the members of their teams stormed the ring and started an all-out brawl. The ring may not be able to contain these 10 competitors on Sunday.
