Wade Barrett Interview on Kentucky’s WBKR
Posted On: Jan 27, 2012 | By: Tiffany | Comment

A huge thanks to Jaclyn of Owensboro, KY’s WBKR Radio for sharing her interview with Wade Barrett on her afternoon program! The interview can be heard in its entirety here, and Jaclyn also has a great write-up about her first experience with the English Superstar in this one-on-one telephone interview!

The WWE Super Show is coming to The Ford Center in Evansville tomorrow night. So, naturally when WBKR was granted an interview with on of the wrestlers, I decided to have them on my show! Haha!

I had the pleasure of talking with British bad-boy Wade Barrett, and well… he was delightful! Even though I haven’t watched wrestling since Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth married, I was pretty excited about this! If you’re like me and don’t know alot about the WWE, let me introduce you to my new BFF, Wade.

Wade Barrett is from Manchester, England. A strapping young man, oh who am I kidding… he’s a big dude! 6’7? and 246 lbs of man stepping onto the mat on Saturday night at the Ford Center! He’s been known to throw a man down the stairs ( I’m sure it was an accident!) and toss one or two through a table! Needless to say, I think I’d want him on my security team.

Jaclyn has a great time talking to the bare-knuckle brawler on various topics, so be sure to check out the nearly 10 minute interview on WKBR!

Michael Prunka, a correspondent for sports entertainment column site Bleacher Report, penned his own column of 10 WWE Superstars who will need to make an impact in this year’s 30-man battle royal (the list of course including Wade Barrett). Much like his fellow columnist TJ Walker, Prunka speaks highly of the bare-knuckle fighter.

Wade Barrett now stands atop many of the mid-card heels on Smackdown. After his intense feud with Randy Orton, it’s only a matter of time before he finds himself in world championship contention.
…Seeing as how the Royal Rumble is often regarded as the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania, it would be fitting if Barrett were to begin a rivalry through his participation in the Royal Rumble match.

Phoenix, AZ – Wade Barrett is well confident that the Barrett Barrage will prove dominant at the Royal Rumble, and anyone would be foolish to doubt the bare-knuckle fighter’s words. Barrett also remains unfazed at the return of Randy Orton this Friday on SmackDown after a length of absence due to injury at the hands of the English Superstar. During tonight’s match between Sheamus and Jinder Mahal, Barrett sat at ringside to provide commentary about his current status before this Sunday’s battle.

Shortly after the beginning of this bout, Wade Barrett appeared at ringside to sit with the Raw commentary team and comment on various issues, including the upcoming 30-man Royal Rumble battle royal as well as his expectations of further injuring Randy Orton upon his return this Friday. After Sheamus pinned Mahal for the victory, Barrett departed ringside to exchange words with his Irish nemesis, who informed Barrett that the outcome of the Rumble would see the Celtic Warrior as the victor.

Posted On: Jan 22, 2012 | By: Tiffany | Comment

Thanks to WNZ for the news -

Randy Orton returned at tonight’s WWE live event in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Orton took out Wade Barrett which resulted in WWE Tag Team Champions Epico & Primo, JTG, Santino Marella and Kofi Kingston coming out. A brawl ensued with everyone getting an RKO except for Barrett and Santino.

Orton is scheduled to make his television return this Friday night on SmackDown and will also participate (along with Wade Barrett and 28 other WWE Superstars) in the 30-man Royal Rumble next Sunday.

TJ Walker of Bleacher Report wrote an article this week on the six WWE Superstars who could make the biggest impact at the 2012 Royal Rumble, and of course Wade Barrett is amongst the counted!

“The Barrett Barrage is coming to St. Louis for the Royal Rumble and we can expect it to do some damage before it leaves.

Wade Barrett has spent the last few episodes of Smackdown bragging about how he will win the Royal Rumble. While this year may not be his year to win it, Barrett would like to argue otherwise and woe to the superstars who disagree with him.”

James Wright of 411Mania.com chose Wade Barrett as one of his “Top 10 Heels of the Week”:

“The Distinguished English Gent got royally screwed this week after getting dumped out of the, albeit pointless, over the top rope challenge on Raw first. But then again he also verbally berated R-Truth and Sheamus and managed to put away Yoshi Tatsu convincingly earlier in the week. Barrett’s momentum has been mixed since he made Orton have a great fall, but I can see him making a good impression in the Rumble this year and certainly he will be getting at least some sort of match at Wrestlemania, which isn’t always as certain as it may seem, and hell a couple of months ago I wouldn’t have put Barrett anywhere near the Grandest Stage of them All. He has gone from Drew McIntyre status to on a par with Sheamus, and that is good enough for me.”

Giulio Romano of Bleacher Report also wrote an article earlier this week on matches that should be focused on at this year’s Royal RumbleWade Barrett vs. Sheamus being one:

Wade Barrett has been on a ride to stardom over the last few months, but it seems there is nowhere to really put him right now and the same goes for Sheamus, whose push and face turn has come to a complete stop.

They are not buried but are stuck in some sort of limbo for the time being. Either Superstar is a viable candidate to win the big Rumble match and earn his championship encounter at WrestleMania.”
